Sometimes when I’m bored, I like to check my spam inboxes. The semi-incomprehensible English can be pretty fun, especially on the sex-aid front. Today my eye was caught by something a little different- an old throwaway password as the email subject.
Previous checks on Have I Been Pwned have found that yes, this particular alias email address has been involved in data breaches. I assume that this is where my password/email combo came from. It was probably an automated email, but it still gave me pause. It’s generic in approach (give me X or I will do Y), and yet the personalisation from the password usage is quite new to me.
I’m sharing this mostly out of interest. I could see this being quite a worrying email to receive if you aren’t very tech savvy!
